Foyer

Entering the foyer gives a feeling of waltzing into a ballroom with custom water jet-cut marble floors with a rich inlay pattern that will take your breath away.

But the centrepiece attraction is a sweeping spiral staircase that wraps around a dramatic chandelier suspended from a cupola at the top of the second floor. The mesmerizing crystal prisms serve to form a stunning focal point making a lasting first impression. Panelled walls curve with the staircase up to the third floor accompanied by wrought-iron and walnut balustrades – elements that are reflected in the design of the exterior of the house.

To the right of the foyer is an ornate powder room fit for a princess that is finished to the same degree of splendour with wall sconces that echo the chandelier lighting and panelled walls with gold leaf Venetian plaster and matching gold finish in the crown molding. An oversized mirror enhances the refined dignity of the room with Victorian-style chrome faucets above an undermount sink, a wall-mounted Toto toilet, and an oversized solid wood door with decorative gold handles – a fixture that is emulated throughout the home.

Front hall office

Immediately to the right of the foyer is an impressive stately office that allows for business to be dealt with at home without intruding further into the rest of the house. Designed to project a bold statement, it features walnut hardwood floors and custom wood cabinets positioned along the back wall in which to display awards. The attention to detail continues here too creating a gracious tone with white wall panels carried in from the foyer, custom double french doors with contemporary metal glass inserts, a tray ceiling with Venetian plaster detail and a stylish crystal chandelier.

Living room and dining room

Across the foyer from the office is the formal living and dining room. Grand pillars at the entrance – softened with beautiful silver and gold patina – underscore a majestic theme while full-wall wainscoting combined with finely detailed millwork presents a smart and elegant appearance to the room.

A matching pair of beautifully-crafted chandeliers hangs from coffered ceilings – inset again with Venetian plaster and gold leaf detailing – imposing a stamp of refined authority upon any occasion below. They also act to delineate between the two areas, separating the living room – resplendent with a large Mediterranean-style limestone fireplace decorated with a delicate ornamental motif framed by two crystal wall sconces – and the dining area that was built for entertaining with a bespoke built-in buffet with a granite surface that matches the countertops in the kitchen.

To enhance the seamless flow between the two rooms, hardwood floors and crown molding with beautiful thistle decoration have been carefully installed. French doors with in-glass metal detailing, matching those that lead into the office, provide access from the formal dining area into the heart of the home – the exquisite kitchen.

Kitchen

Wok Kitchen

Upon entering the kitchen, the eye is immediately drawn to the piece de resistance – a dazzling gold and crystal chandelier that is reflected throughout the room in the glass of the display cabinets, the polish of the stone countertops and the brilliance of the inlaid marble floors.

Centre stage is an oversized island equipped with a stunning granite counter with bullnose detailing. Pewter hardware present in the soft-close drawers and on the handles of the cupboards contrasts perfectly with the white granite backsplash and custom cabinetry, while a magic corner cupboard is an ideal way to maximize storage.

The kitchen boasts a series of professional-grade appliances with a side-by-side integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator with a water tap and ice maker, a three-piece Miele cooking arena with a convection oven, warming oven and microwave, a high-powered hood fan, and a Miele dishwasher.

No great entertaining area is complete without a secondary kitchen and this home has one in spades. A totally self-contained Wok kitchen immediately adjacent to the main kitchen comes completely outfitted with some high-powered equipment – a six-burner Wolf cooktop, a Thermador hood fan and a large double Blanco sink with a garburator – perfect for gourmet cooking and a quick-and-easy clean up.

Every home needs a mud room, to shed shoes, boots and outerwear and store it away for the next day. This is a practical space, thoughtfully designed to handle a plethora of outdoor wear and providing immediate access to the side of the house and the garage beyond, negating the need to traipse through the house with dirty shoes. With an eye on design, the external door is a soaring 12 feet, mimicking the style of the front doors. It is also equipped with a security system panel for immediate ease of use.

Family room

Adjacent to the kitchen and informal eating area is the family room with coffered ceiling beams and Venetian plaster inlay, a continuity of design that is replicated from the kitchen while full-wall wainscoting, a feature fireplace and identical wall sconces are themes repeated from the living room. The walnut panelling of the custom millwork entertainment unit creates a cozy family atmosphere and its gleaming marble surface ties in with the accent marble in the floors of the kitchen and foyer. Access to the terrace and views across the rear garden can also be enjoyed from here.
